We have more exciting news from our Takeaway Kiosk, NZ cod is currently on the menu and its an absoulute winner! Its a wonderfully Flaky white flesh fish, full of flavour and cooks brilliantly in Batter, Crumbs or just simply Grilled. However please don’t take my word for it, do come down and try for yourself! We are using it in all our seafood packs and last night served over 500 portions in just over an hour!

In other exciting fishy news we recently negotiated a much better price for Austrlaian Snapper, we have passed this on to our customers and it is now available for just $9.90 a portion.  Absolutely delicious with our Home made tartare sauce.

A brilliant result and we have now donated this money to the appeal fund.

We would like to thank everyone who came in and spent money during the period and a very special thanks to those who kindly donated  their own money, in addition to the 5% we collected from our takings.

In the meantime, summer  belatedly arrived on the Sunshine coast and we have  had some faboulous sunny days in Caloundra during February!

At Sandbar, we consider ourselves very lucky that our business hasn’t been flood damaged and myself personally as my house in Toowong came through untouched in the huge Brisbane floods this week.

We would however like to assist the many desperate people across Queensland whose lives have been devastated or impacted by the biggest natural disaster this state has seen.
We have therefore decided to donate 5% of all our takings for the period January 15th to February 15th 2011 to the Premier’s Queensland Flood Appeal.

We will calculate the money each week and donate every Monday directly to the appeal fund. We will also post updates each week with the amount donated for the week along with a running tally of the total amount.

Pavlova Mix (makes 12 individual disks, 6 portions)
4 egg whites
3 cups Caster sugar
2 tea spoons white wine vinegar
2 teaspoons cornflour
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
8 tablesppons boiling water

1 punnet strawberries (cut into quarters)
3 kiwi fruit (Peeled & cut into thick slices.
200ml thickend or double cream (Whisked untill thick)

Mix all indregiends into a bowl or mixer and whisk on high speed for 10 minutes (untill egg whites are making stiff peaks)
Put mixture into piping bag & Pipe individual round disks (approx 10-12cm wide) ontop a pre parpared baking tray (lined with greasproof/baking paper & sprayed with Oil)
Cook for 10 minutes om 150c
turn oven down to 120c and cook for further 15 minutes
Turn oven off & leave door open with pavs in ovenm for further 30 minutes and than take out and allow to cool completely on wire rack

To assemble individual Pavlova’s
Put one pav disk on each plate
Divide whipped cream between pavlova’s
place chopped strawberries & kiwi fruit onto fruit
Put 2nd pav disk on top & dust with icing sugar
serve immediately

We offer 5 different beers, 5 different tapa’s & 5 different wines all for just $5 each. The wine, Beer & Tapas selection may change from week to week but the price always stays the same!!

We offer the prefect Sunshine Coast setting, on the waterfront at Bulcock Beach with our beautiful views across the water to Bribie Island.
